What is a photography watermark?
Short answer
A visible mark applied to a delivered image to identify the photographer or platform.
Full definition
A watermark is a logo, signature, or text overlaid on a photo to prevent unauthorized use, mark ownership, or signal that the image is a draft. Some platforms enforce platform-branded watermarks on free tiers (12img Free shows a 12img watermark). Paid tiers usually let the photographer control whether to apply their own watermark, leave images clean, or watermark only the preview while delivering the original unmarked.
